R. Lucille Olson, 93, Velva, died Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Trinity Hospital in Minot.
R. Lucille Holte was born March 5, 1915 in Bergen, ND, a daughter to Adolph and Julia (Marcuson) Holte.
In 1919, she moved with her parents to a farm in Lake Hester Township, McHenry County north of Bergen where she grew up. She attended Bergen School, graduating from high school there in 1933.
On December 1, 1935, she was married to Herbie Olson in Velva. They farmed and raised turkeys in Lake Hester Township.
In 1966, they retired from farming but continued to live on the farm until October, 1983, when they moved to Velva. Herbie died December 14, 1993.
Lucille enjoyed hobbies of quilting, sewing and gardening. She made quilts and also made many grandma and grandpa dolls. Her flowers in her garden were always beautiful and well taken care of. Her family meant the world to her and she will be missed by all.
Those who shared in her life, son, Darell (Loraine) Olson, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Scott (Janean) Olson, Wisconsin, Mark (Tammie) Olson, Minnesota, Janel Howe, Grand Forks, Vanessa (Brian) Demuth, Minnesota; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Spencer, Ryan, Blake, Cassandra, Brandon, Travis, Shale and Monique and several nieces and nephews, also a special friend Carmine Olson, Minnesota.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Herbie; son, Leslie; brother, Francis Holte and sister, Vivian Colby.
Funeral: Friday, January 16, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Oak Valley Lutheran Church Chapel, Velva, ND.
Visitation: At Lucille's request there will be no reviewal, but friends may sign the register Friday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial: Bergen Cemetery, Bergen, ND in the spring of 2009.
