AMO TREVOR DURNELL

Amo Trevor Durnell, son of William and Lucretia Douglas Durnell was born near Cabool, on March 31, 1896 and departed this life on Jan. 20, 1961, making his age 64 years, 9 months and 20 days.

The greater part of his adult life was spent in the Ozark community as a farmer. His interest in the local school as a patron and as a board member and his active interests in community affairs served to make him well known throughout the Cabool area.

He was united to Jennie Reed and to this union two children were born, Mary Ellen and Amo Reed. The daughter died in infancy and his wife died on April 5, 1919.

On January 21, 1921 he was united in marriage to Verbal Marie Torkelson and to this union and to this union 7 children were born. Delpha Marie and Maxine preceded him in death.

When 9 years of age he made a profession of Christ.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife Verbal, 4 sons, Amo of Willow Springs, Fred of Moundville, Grover of Ednor, Maryland and Earl of Cabool. Two daughters, Maderine Bryant of Cabool and Pearl of St. Louis, 2 sisters, Vivian Britzman of Bucyrus and Allie Ray of Cabool. Six grandchildren and many other family, friends and neighbors will mourn his passing.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist church with Rev. Floyd Gentry officiating. Burial was in Cabool cemetery under direction of Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home.
