Howard Joseph Arble, 83, of Rural Valley, died Sunday, July 27, 2003 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, East Franklin Township. He was born Dec. 22, 1919 in Echo to Frederick and Minnie Arble.

Mr. Arble had worked as a laborer at Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge.

He was a World War II veteran having served with the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the Pleasant Union Lutheran Church.

His other memberships included the American Legion Cosgrove Post.

He enjoyed baseball and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Catherine (Troupe) Arble, whom he married Feb. 24, 1951; one son, Terrance Lee Arble of Indiana; three daughters, Louella Mae Brannan of Adrian, Darlene Catherine John of Templeton and Julie Ann Trudgen of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, David Brannan, Jason John and Ricky Brannan; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Beadenbock of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Catherine Rearick of Dayton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and George Arble; and his granddaughter, Charity Dailey.

ARBLE - Friends of Howard Joseph Arble, 83, of Rural Valley, who died July 27, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Carson/Boyer Funeral Home, Inc., 724 Main St., Rural Valley. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m Wednesday at the Pleasant Union Lutheran Church with Ralph Kilgore officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Union Cemetery. Arrangements by Carson/Boyer.
