Edna H. Roeck, 75, of 724 Second St., Kiel, died Monday evening, June 27, 1994, at Willowdale Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein. She is the former Edna Schmitt born September 24, 1918, in Manitowoc County, daughter of Peter and Appelonia Zimmermann Schmitt. On September 2, 1937, she married Leon Roeck in Manitowoc. The couple owned and operated Roeck's Bakery in Kiel for approximately 30 years. Her husband, Leon, preceded her in death on November 10, 1972. She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel; past member of the Women's Guild, Kiel VFW Auxiliary, past treasurer of the Kiel Area Community Chest and also was active in many community activities.
Survivors include two son, Chris (Judith) Roeck, Kiel; James Roeck, Kiel; past husband, Francis Cookle, Kiel; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Herbert Schmitt, Rocky Knoll and two sisters, Hildred Mathes and Ella Herman, both of Sheboygan. She was preceded in death by one son, one granddaughter, one brother and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel with the Rev. Raymond C. Coombs officiating. Burial will be in Kiel City Cemetery.
