Robert Conlin Roddy (b. Dec. 9, 1916 d. June 22, 1994) was born in Ligonier, Pa., one of five children of Luther Roddy and Catherine Conlin. Orphaned at age six, he spent his early years at St. John's orphanage in Cresson, Pa., and later was taken in by an aunt on his mother's side in Johnstown, Pa. He would later become a prominent negotiator for the United Steelworkers union.
