Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Chapel of Ray Funeral Home with Dr. James Crews officiating. Interment will follow in the Knollhurst Cemetery.
Nora was born on June 29, 1916, in Stokes County, to the late Joe Mabe and the late Beulah Richardson Mabe. She had retired from Washington Mills and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and daughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Ellington "Crip" Hazelwood; son, Joseph Wayne Hazelwood; brothers, Joe Mabe, Pink Mabe, Woodrow Mabe, William Mabe, and Roscoe Mabe; and sisters, Lillie Gatewood, Rosie Bullins, Bessie Bullins, Mary Wall, Willie Ruth Alcorn, and Louise Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail Smith and husband, James of Mayodan; sons, John Hazelwood and wife, Linda and J.D. Hazelwood all of Madison; nine grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; three great- great grandchildren; sister, Beulah Mabe and husband, Dixon of Walnut Cove; former daughters-in-law, Lillian Benoit Hazelwood, Jenny Hatcher Hazelwood Doyle, and Tiffany Newman Hazelwood; and a host of friends.
