William married twice:
Married 1. Ann Margaret (Steerner) Custard 1767-1820
Married 2. Margaret (Hohenschildt) Custard 1777-1858
He was the son of Johann Ludwig Keister and Eva Christina (Antoni) Keister∼The old graves are marked only with upright field stones with no inscriptions. In 1936 the site was reported to have about 15 graves. It is believed that part of this old cemetery was destroyed by the widening of the road some years ago. This is believed to be the original burial ground of the William Custard family which was used in the late 1700s and very early 1800s prior to the opening of the cemetery in 1844/45 at the nearby St. John's Lutheran Church.
