Mrs. Broderick was reared at Minnick and other points in Tennessee and obtained her education at Minnick. In 1900 with her parents, she moved to Steele, where she lived until last August, when she and her family moved to this city to make their home.
She was married to Judge Broderick June 30th, 1901, at Steele and was the mother of five children, all of whom are surviving. They are Miss Hazel Broderick of this city and Willie, Joe and Ben Broderick of Steele, and Gerald Broderick of this city. Judge Broderick having been a former teacher, principally in the south end of the county, they resided, as above stated, in Steele practically all of their married life and have many friends in the locality.
Deceased was a member of the Church of Christ, which she joined in 1915. Because of failing health she was not very active in church work, but she was a very fine Christian woman and possessed such traits of character as made her much beloved in the neighborhoods in which she lived.
Since January Mrs. Broderick's health had been on a noticeable decline, although she was not bedfast even up to the time of her death. On Friday afternoon, the day before her death, she told members of her family immediately after which she had a sinking spell and from that time on her condition was very critical and it was known that she could not recover. She passed away the following day at 5:15.
Her body was taken to Steele and funeral services were held Sunday, March 29, at the Church of Christ, conducted by Rev. M.S. Massey, pastor of the Methodist Church there and a close friend of the family. The funeral was largely attended and many beautiful floral tributes were sent. Interment followed in Mount Zion cemetery at Steele.
