NORTON — Beatrice Anna Lang, 93, died May 1 at the Charismatic Estates in Waxhaw, N.C. She was born Aug. 13, 1915, at Olmitz, the daughter of Charles Joseph and Anna Clara (Bittner) Menzer. Bea grew up in Olmitz and attended the local schools. On Jan. 22, 1935, she married Albert R. Lang in Olmitz. She was a homemaker and made her home farming with her husband in Hoisington, Geneseo, Rush Center and the McCracken area until 1950, when they bought a farm northwest of Norton. In 1973 they moved into Norton, where they lived until Albert's death on May 11, 1984.
Mrs. Lang was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Norton and had served as president of the Altar Society. She was a member of and had served as president of the Eagle's Auxiliary. She also had served as a Red Cross volunteer and 4-H leader for many years.
Survivors include: one son, Leroy and wife Judy Lang, Norton; two daughters, Barbara and husband Ray Schmitz, Indian Land, S.C., and Jeanette and husband Pat Sterrett, Dubuque, Iowa; a sister, Henrietta Bartonek, Otis; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and seven siblings.
Rosary service will be at 7:30 tonight at Enfield Funeral Home in Norton. Mass of the Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Norton. Graveside service and burial will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery in Olmitz. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
