Thelma Grace Bay, 88, Union, passed away Monday, April 19, 2010, in Gerald.

Mrs. Bay was born Feb. 2, 1922, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of the late James Martin and wife Jeanette, nee Branson.

She grew up in the Owensville area and upon her parents' passing, she was raised by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Branson.

Mrs. Bay graduated from Owensville High School. She was united in marriage to Cecil Bay Dec. 8, 1944, in St. Louis.

The couple moved around in their early years but settled in St. Louis for a time, and later moved to Union in 1958.

Mrs. Bay was employed by Brown Shoe Factory as an inspector until her retirement in 1988.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Union, and had taught Sunday school for many years and was an active church member.

Mrs. Bay was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; one son, Thomas Bay; and two brothers-in-law, Harold and Floyd Bay.

She is survived by one son, Richard Bay and wife Lynne, Beaufort; one daughter, Becky Schultz and husband Bill, Washington; two grandsons, Cory Wall and fiancee Tammy Simcox and Craig Wall; one great-grandson, Ashton Wall; two brothers-in-law, Dick Bay and wife Myrna and Robert Bay and wife Ra, all of Florida state; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 22, at Oltmann Funeral Home, Union, with the Rev. Roger Johnson officiating.

Burial was in Midlawn Cemetery, Union.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Bay family are preferred.

The Bay family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.
