Lloyd Albert Snyder passed away Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at his home in Kamiah. He was 87.
He was born July 17, 1921, in Weippe, to Omer and Ada Gallaher Snyder, and attended school at Glover, Idaho.
During World War II, Lloyd served in the Army's 10th Mountain Division in the European Theater.
Lloyd bought a ranch on the Beaverslide, outside of Kamiah, where he fulfilled his love of horses, cattle and family. He was a devoted son who took care of his mother during her later years. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Lloyd worked for Potlatch mills for 20 years, 10 of which he was foreman.
Lloyd married Darlyne Mattix in 1946, after returning from WWII. They had six children together. They later divorced.
Lloyd later married Elizabeth (Betty) Miller on April 13, 1978, in Grangeville. They had a close and loving marriage, and Lloyd will be dearly missed by his wife, Betty, and his children, Jack R. Snyder and companion Nancy of Nezperce, Harry A. Snyder and wife Peggy of Lewiston, Donna and Paul Mattoon of Kamiah, Patti McNair of Minnesota, and Margaret Kay Robertson of Lewiston; stepchildren Floyd Fister Jr. of Lewiston, Deborah Sue and Acey Wilson of Kooskia, Rayette and William Shriver of Spokane, and Steven R. Fister and wife Joyce of Tonasket, Wash.; as well as a brother, Everett, in California; 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Ada Snyder; and his beloved infant son, William Gene Snyder.
The funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kamiah, under the direction of Trenary Funeral Home in Kooskia.
