Walden Leroy Liljenberg was born on 29 Jul 1912 in Almelund, Chisago, Minnesota as the ninth child of Swen Lars Liljenberg and Anna Olivia Carlson. He had nine siblings, namely: Clara Ecphia, Ida Hilfred Annett, Minnie Irene, Ragnhild Marie, Alma Andora, Carl Oscar Harold, Paul Linius, Ethel Alfeld Meranda, and Rose Mildred. When he was 20, he married Viola Mae McKinney, daughter of Daniel Herbert McKinney and Charlotte Emeline Murray, on 17 Oct 1932 in Exeland, Wisconsin. Between 1933 and 1940 they had four children together.

His death certificate shows that he was employed as a Core Maker for Union Brass. He died on 17 Oct 1991 at the Margaret Parmly Residence in Chisago City, Minnesota, after exactly 59 years of marriage. Walden and Viola are both buried in Chisago Memorial Park Cemetery, Chisago City, Chisago, Minnesota.
