Mrs. Tena Alm was born on December 1, 1879, the daughter of Peter and Hanna H. Nelson. She was the oldest of six children. The family home was in Paxton, Illinois. On April 14, 1895 she was confirmed her faith in the Lutheran Church with Dr. E. P. Olsson as her confirmation pastor. The following year, she together with her family, came from Paxton, IL to Winthrop, MN. Here she made her home until June 1922 when she was united in marriage to the late Albin Alm. For several years they made their home in Minneapolis, MN. Later they came to Chisago City, Minnesota. The last home they had in our area was on a small farm near Lindstrom. They lived there until Mr. Alms death a year ago. Due to her infirmities, she had been a patient in the Downing Home, Rush City, MN.
She departed this life on November 14, 1956 having attained the age of 76 years, 11 months, and 9 days. Funeral services in her memory were held in Zion Lutheran Church, Chisago City, MN, Clarence W. Peterson Pastor, Wednesday, November 14, 1956 at 2:00 pm. Mrs. Leonard Henrickson sang two hymns with Mrs. A. Harold Peterson as organist. The following served as pallbearers: Marvin G. Johnson, Albin Larson, Fred Nelson, Mentzer Olson, Donald Peterson, Hilbert Tangren. Interment was made in Chisago Memorial Park.
Among those who mourn her passing are: one sister, Mrs. L. M. Johnson, Winthrop, MN, one brother, L. H. Nelson, Winthrop, MN; two nephews, Merton Johnson, Winthrop, MN and Lester Johnson, Willmar, MN, also other relatives and friends. Three sisters preceded her in death.
