Sara Swanner Nicholson, born in Greenville, MS, July 18, 1955, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2009, of heart failure.
Visitation will be 5-8 pm today at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Graveside services will be Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 2 pm in Greenville City Cemetery.
Sara made her home in Terry, MS with her husband, David "Alton" Nicholson and daughter, Margaret Nicholson. She is also survived by her father and mother, Robert and Margaret Swanner, her brother Robert "Bob" Swanner; step-son David A. Nicholson II and step-daughter, Tina Nicholson.
She is preceded in death by her brother, William E. Swanner; paternal grandparents, J.E. Swanner and Ida Mae Swanner; and maternal grandparents, William A. Ross and Sara C. Ross.
Sara attended Greenville Christian School and was a graduate of Bob Jones University. Her career included teaching elementary school in Greenville, MS, Baton Rouge, LA and Donaldson, LA. Sara put her career on hold to home school her daughter, Margaret for 15 years before accepting a position as elementary art teacher at Hazlehurst Elementary. She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be missed.
