On Saturday; May 23, 1981, he married Murdie Faye Pritchett in Clemons; Marshall County, Iowa. The couple resided in State Center; Marshall County, Iowa. Dave was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #33 Union in Des Moines for 45 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the Iowa Hawkeyes and he was a big fan of John Wayne.

His daughter: Paula Kokemiller of Ames, Iowa. His stepchildren: Sherry (Mark) Giannetto of Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. Clint Sillyman of Houston; Texas County, Missouri and Brenda (Lester) Weber of Maple Lake; Texas County, Minnesota. His six grandchildren: Joshua Kokemiller, Katie Kokemiller, Kyle Weber, Shanna Weber, Abby Weber, and Carl Giannetto. His brother: Robert (Joreen) Fisher of Zearing; Story County, Iowa. His nieces: Carol Crane, Sherry Poole, Julie Osborn, and Ann Henderson. Also his nephew: Tim Fisher. In death, he has rejoined his parents and his brother: Roger, who passed away in December 2008.
