Ector lived seventy five years. He was the son of William Lafayette and Eliza Howell McCracken, the grandson of Russell and Margaret Crockett Garrett McCracken, and the great grandson of Joseph and Sarah Vaughn McCracken. On Christmas Day of 1890 he married 15 year old Minnie Furr, the daughter of Gaines and Maggie Furr. They had twelve children: Eva, Mary, Walter, Carl, Claude, Nellie, Linton, Thomas Kenneth, Maggie, Gaines, Hubert, and Pearl.
