Marjorie A. Botkin, 91, of Farmington, KS passed Monday March 23, 2009 at her home.
Marjorie was born February 7, 1918 in Monrovia, KS, the daughter of Clifton and Loie Higley (Bowlin). She graduated from ACCHS in 1936. Marjorie was a housewife and homemaker and was a member of the Farmington Christian Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for 55 years and Superintendent of Sunday school. She was also a member of the Home Demonstration Unit and the Ladies Aide. Mrs. Botkin also served as Superintendent of the flowers during the Effingham fair. She was an avid KU, Chiefs and Royals fan.
She was married to L.W. Botkin on December 3, 1940 in Platte City, MO. He preceded her in death in 1989. Survivors include three sons, Tom (RaeAnn) Botkin, Lakewood, CO, Rick (Janet) Botkin, Lawrence, KS and Terry Botkin, Farmington, KS, a daughter Sandra (Phil) Gordon, Tomball, TX, two brothers Jack (Shirley) Higley, Atchison, KS, Don (Edna) Higley, Lancaster, KS, one sister Bobbie (Ray) Outler, Loveland, CO, and an aunt; Susie Linscott, formerly of Effingham, KS, nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Her parents and a son Russ Botkin (husband and father of Joy and Matthew Botkin) two brothers Carl Higley and Eston Higley preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be Friday March 27, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Brook and Don Goatley officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Effingham, KS.
