Boyd Cole Drowns
Was Swimming In Pond Near His Home—Body Found After An Hour
Funeral services were held Friday for Boyd Cole, 10, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Cole of south of Lenox.
The little boy drowned while swimming in the pond at the Charles Reed home Wednesday afternoon. Men who were threshing a short distance from the pond were called and removed the body about an hour after the boy disappeared under the water.
Two local physicians were called and worked for an hour and a half trying to revive him but failed. He was in the water about half an hour and it is thought that cramps caused his drowning. He is survived by his parents and one sister, 4 years old.

Lenox Youth Is Drowned in Pond
Bedford Firemen Asked for Pulmotor
Boyd Cole, 10-year-old Lenox farm boy was drowned Wednesday afternoon in a farm pond at the Orval Reed home south of Lenox.
According to reports here the Cole lad, accompanied by two other small children, had gone swimming in the pond. He apparently crossed the deepest part only to fall the victim of cramps in water which, had he been able to stand up, would not have been over his head.
When the lad sank, his companions called workmen from a nearby field who pulled the boy from the pond. Physician applied artificial respiration to no avail.
A hurried call to nearby towns, including Bedford, failed to locate a Pulmotor.
