Born Aug. 16, 1886, in Fayette, Ala., she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Welch.
She lived in Matthews 16 years and was a member of the Little Vine Baptist Church.
Her husband Albert A. Clayton died in 1952.
Survivors are six sons, Charlie Clayton, Claud W. Clayton, William Clayton, Ray Clayton, John Clayton and James Clayton; two daughters, Mrs. W. C. Leigh and Mrs. Bob Westpheling; two brothers, N. A. Welch and Ellis Welch; three sisters, Mrs. Lovie Dulaney, Mrs. Essie Robertson and Mrs. Deana Willis; 30 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at the McMikle Funeral Home here Sunday. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
