HAMLIN-Jonas Vernon Alford, 90, of Sod, Lincoln County, a retired farmer and livestock dealer, died Thursday in a Charleston hospital. Survivors: sons, Woodrow, Fred and Tom of Sod, Bruce of Hamlin; daughters, Mrs. Verle Cross of Spencer, Mrs. Ruby Powell of Hamlin, Miss Reva Alford of Sod. Mrs. Amy Thomas of St. Albans; brother, F. E. of Sod; sisters, Mrs. Wilda McCallister and Mrs. Georgia Spurlock of Hurricane. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p. m. at the Koontz Funeral Home here with the Rev. Guy Smith and the Rev. J. W. Burch in charge. Burial will be in Sampson Cemetery at Garretts Bend. Friends may call at the funeral home.
