VENICE, Fla.-Margie D. Goff, 75, of South Venice Boulevard, died Tuesday, May 12, 1998, at the Jefferson Geriatric Center. She had been a patient there the past three weeks.
She was born Nov. 4, 1922, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Fred and Nillie (Norton) Powers. She lived in Jefferson for most of her life, before moving to Florida in 1980.
She married Merle A. Goff Sr. on June 17, 1945.
Mrs. Goff worked for more than 20 years, retiring from the Ashtabula Rubber Co. She and her husband also owned and ran Stop 91 and the M&M Barn.
A member of the Jefferson and Venice, Fla. Eagles clubs, she also enjoyed sewing and bowling.
Survivors include a son, Merle A. Goff Jr. of Jefferson; a grandson; four granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Alleman of Ashtabula; and two brothers, Donald Powers of Texas and John Powers of Ashtabula.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, in 1996, a son, Donald; two brothers, Secil and Fred Powers; and four sisters, Cecil Swartz, Lillian McKean, Georgia Evans, and Dorothy Mason.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc., a Family Care Group affiliate, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. David Miller of Gageville United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
Calling hours are 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
