JOHN W. SHADOWENS
SEBASTOPOL - Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. for John W. Shadowens, 6363 Barnett Valley Rd., who died Thursday at his home. He was 51.
Mr. Shadowens was a retired master sergeant in the Air Force. He and his wife, Rowena, and daughter, Catherine, moved to Sebastopol; from Nevada in 1947 upon his retirement. Before that he had been stationed in many parts of the world, and in World War II he served in the European Theater of Operations.
Born in Illinois, Mr. Shadowens joined the Army Air Force in 1919. He was a member of Austin Lodge 12, A.F.&A.M., in Austin, Tex. In Sebastopol he developed a hobby in gardening and joined the Sebastopol Flower Lovers Club.
Dr. John Derbyshire called by Mrs. Shadowens, pronounced death due to a heart attack.
Surviving in addition to his wife and daughter Catherine, are stepsons, Donald H. Fargo, Guam, and William Roger Fargo, Livermore; stepdaughters Anna Irene Beisel, San Rafael, and Helen Frances Spencer, Cottonwood Falls, Kans.; a brother, William H. Shadowens, and a sister, Martha Ann Bennett, both of Fresno; and another sister, Elizabeth Brooks of Benton, Ill.
The funeral will be under the auspices of Lafayette Lodge 126, F.& A.M., from the chapel of the O'Leary Funeral Home here. Interment will be in Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno.
