Funeral services for Rufus Emery Cates, 81, of 207 Rhodesia Ave, SE, will be held Sunday at 3 pm at the Lakewood Heights Baptist Church, the Rev W L Rainwater officiating. Burial will be in Roseland Park.
Mr Cates, a retired store front mechanic for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co, died Thursday at a private hospital. He was a native of Henry County and lived in Atlanta 60 years. He worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co for 37 years.
Mr Cates was a member of Lakewood Heights Baptist Church and Lakewood Lodge 443 F&FM.
Surviving are his wife, the former Martha Jane Monroe, two daughters, Miss Thelma Cates and Mrs Ruth C Najjar, three sons, T E Cates, M M Cates and Robert F Cates, and two brothers, H L Cates and Clifford Cates, all of Atlanta.
