She was born Sept. 4, 1927, in Salem, a daughter of Bert and Katheryn Knox Harvey. On Feb. 17, 1945, she was united in marriage to George O. Ackerson in Mount Vernon. He died in 2002. She retired from the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Geneseo.
Bertdell was a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years in Ophiem and her memberships include the First Church of God in Galesburg, the Ophiem Legion Auxiliary 1077 and the AFSCME Retiree Program.
She is survived by four sons, Allan Ackerson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Thomas Ackerson of Oklahoma, Mike (Julie) Ackerson of Woodhull and William Bradley (Susan) Ackerson of Arcadia, Kan.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her parents; husband; two sons, George and James; an infant grandson, Edward Allen; one brother and one sister preceded her in death.
