She was born March 6, 1928, the oldest child of the late Willie Rhett "Red" and Violet Naomi Newton Chavis.
Mrs. Brimer was retired from TiCaro and was a lifelong member of Loray Baptist Church. She was a good natured woman who saw the good in everyone and had a kind word for everyone she came across. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was virtuously humble.
In addition to her parent's she was preceded in death by her sister, Lillie Chavis McCarthy and by her brothers, Lawrence Chavis and Bobbie Marvin Chavis Sr.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Floyd Vollie Brimer Jr. of Dallas; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Kevin Delahunty of Wilmington, Sheila and Jeffrey Weathers of Dallas; grandchildren, Christen Cathey of Gastonia, Angela Fields and husband Craig, Jason Holbrooks; great-grandchildren, Amber and Cody Fields, all of Bolivia, N.C.; numerous nieces and nephews, including her reliable nephew, Bob Chavis Jr. of Gastonia; lifelong friend, Irene Roland.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Loray Baptist Church with Dr. Kent Cranford officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Interment will follow the service at Westview Gardens cemetery.
