He was born Oct. 13, 1925, in Cass County to Carl and Eunice Caldwell Aikman. On Aug. 1, 1948, he married Alice Chambers Aikman. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, James of Peru; four daughters, Linda Brown and Stephanie Aikman, both of Seymour, Pam Jewell of Bloomington, and Cheryl Cox of Wabash; and seven grandchildren. One grandchild is deceased.
A World War II Navy veteran, Mr. Aikman was retired from the Peru Community School System. He was a member of the American Legion in Seymour.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Tom Robbins officiating. Military graveside rites will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
