Nellie M. Mumma, 88, died January 14, 1993 at the Lane County Long Term Care, Dighton, Kansas.

She was born September 4, 1904 in Lane County the daughter of John and Ella Walters Murphy. A lifetime resident of Lane County, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Dighton, Kansas.

On December 2, 1922, she married Joseph Brady Singleton. On October 5, 1932, she married Clarence Mumma at Gove. He died July 3, 1975.

Survivors include; two sons, Bill Mumma, Indeoendence, Kansas, and Clarence Lee Mumma, Edwardsville, Kansas; three daughters, Kathryn Allen, Valley Center, Calif., Rose Eaton, Riverside, Calif., and Shirley Merritt, Shawnee Misson, Kansas; five brothers, Mike Murphy, Hays, Woodrow Murphy, Dighton, Larry Murphy, Wichita, James Murphy, Scott City, Kansas, Carlos Murphy, Hutchinson; four sisters, Kathryn Moomaw and Mary Atterberry, both of Dighton, Alice Gabel, Ellis, Kansas and Betty Whiting, Newton, Kansas; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Knauff and two sisters, Mabelle Hutchinson and Patricia Murphy.

Funeral was a 11 a.m. Saturday January 16, 1993 at the First Christian Church, Dighton wuth the Rev. Larry Long presiding. Music, "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art" was sung by Gloria Bray. accompanied by Janis Reed. Casket bearers were Steve Mumma, Shannon Murphy, Max Mommaw, Dan Moomaw, Laverne Helzer and W.R. Duncan. Burial was in the Dighton Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the J.O.Y. Center in care of Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton, Kansas.
