William Mixon was a farmer and lived in the countryside between Everrgreen and Greenville, Alabama. He had a big farm and lots of hired help.
He was in the Civil War. At the time of the war he was married and had a young son. He fought at the Battle of Blakeley and and when it was over walked all the way home.
He and his family lost everything during the war. When he returned home his wife Mahala Higdon shortley after. They had 2 sons together, Issac Franklin Higdon Mixon and William Mixon. He then married Elizabeth Ban Durden, 23 years his juinor.
About 1899, William, Elizabeth and their children moved and settled in Bromley, Baldwin County, Alabama.
