Obituary:
Robert Finley Crockett, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel M. Crockett, was
born September 21,1870, in Cooper County Missouri. Departed this life at his
home near Lamar on January 16, 1936, age 65 years,3 months and 25 days.

He grew to manhood in Cooper County and on January 9,1895, he was united in
marriage with Miss Mary Elizabeth Thornton of Cooper County, Mo. In 1900 they
moved to Barton County, there were four children born to this union, they are
Mrs. May Reaves of Oakton Community; Mack and Milton of the home and Barney of
Irwin.

Three years ago last November his wife was called unto her eternal home. Mr.
Crockett was not well at that time and the deep grief which was his to bear
seemed to further break down his health. But not until about two months ago
did his friends realize that he was a sick man. He was bedfast about one
month.

When a very young lad he was converted and united with the Cumberland
Presbyterian church in Cooper County, where his grandfather, Robert R. Crockett
was the pastor. He placed his membership in Hopewell Church in 1919 and became
a ruling elder and for several years was the superintendent of the Sunday
school at that church. He died in the faith.
( Hopewell is a Cumberland Presbyterian Church east of Irwin. - It is still there and in use as a C.P. church in 2017.)

He is survived by the four children, seven grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs.
Lou Dougherty of Independence Mo., and Mrs. Charley White of Twin Falls, Idaho,
three brothers Will of Oakton, Charley of Iantha and Barney of Irwin with many
other relatives and friends. Truely he was a good father, brother and friend.

Funeral services were held at the Hopewell church on January 17, 2:30 p.m.
conducted by the Rev. W. E. Kitterman, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Gillham.
The Hopewell choir sang the beautiful songs. Burial was in the Oakton
cemetery, directed by the Konantz Funeral Home.
