Merriam Kennedy Gill, 84, passed away in her home in Lexington, KY, August 8, 2008, surrounded by family and friends. Mrs. Gill was born in Crawford, Nebraska, on January 28, 1924, to Arlene and Virgil Kennedy. Growing up on the family ranch in Harrison, NB, she attended local schools, graduating from Crawford High School. She met William P. Gill, who was stationed at Ft. Robinson, NB, and the couple was married June l, l945. The couple settled in their home in Lexington in 1957. Mrs. Gill was a devoted wife and mother who maintained a loving and warm home for her family. She was a doting grandmother who showered her grandkids with love, time and attention. She was a gracious hostess and always extended a warm welcome to her visitors. She will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends and all those who knew her.


Mrs. Gill was preceded in death by her parents Arlene and Virgil Kennedy, her husband William P. Gill, her brother-in-law George W. Gill, Jr., and her son-in-law James D. Smith. Mrs. Gill is survived by her children and their spouses: Diana and Bill Helsabeck, Sharon and Chuck Jensen, Merri Lynn Gill and William Paul Gill, Jr. Grandchildren are Ben Jensen, Sarah K. Jensen, Brian Bain, Stephen Helsabeck, Nathan Helsabeck, and Jimmy Smith. She is also survived by Mr. and Mrs. Clive White, who have always been more than just neighbors, and long-time caregiver and honorary family member, Judy Gibson. She is also survived by her faithful canine companions, Oscar and Piglet.


Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 11th at the Grove Hill Cemetery.
