William Wallace Lynes was the oldest son of William and Emily Perry Lynes. Besides W.W. he had eight brothers and sisters including Sarah, Andrew, Mary, Nettie, Josephine, Alice, Amos and Eva.

When he was nine years old, he moved with his family from their old home to Walworth County Wisconsin living in Sharon, Rock Prairie and Beloit. After a few years they moved to Iowa and settled in Buchanan County.

Shortly after this move, W.W. left the "parental roof" for the purpose of seeking his fortune. He passed some years in different parts of Iowa and in 1863 came back to Bremer County and settled Polk Twp.

On October 21, 1866 he married Ella A. Hutchins, a native of Wisconsin.

Children: James Jay Lynes and Edith Kate Lynes

1873 Married Ella A. Ketchum

Children: Frank, Loren, Ina Mae and Glen Two died in infancy.

W.W. Lynes was an early pioneer to Bremer County Iowa having moved to the area in 1863 from Delaware and Buchanan Counties in Iowa, Sharon, Wisconsin and Cattaragus, N.Y. He was one of the original founders of Plainfield, IA. W.W. farmed throughout most of his life but was also involved in other businesses. He was an active member of the Baptist Church and leader in song.
