LYNDON -- Wayne N. Culbertson, 80, Lyndon, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at a care center here.

He was born Aug. 16, 1918, in Borton, Ill., to Albert Francis and Molly Bell Wilson Culbertson. He spent many years in Tuscola, Ill., before he moved to Lyndon in 1952. He worked for the Monsanto Chemical Co., and U.S.I. Chemicals, and owned and operated the Tuscola Machine Shop, all in Illinois. He owned and operated Culbertson's Machine Shop in Lyndon and was an instructor at the Topeka Vocational School.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Medical Corps from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Lyndon.

He married Frances Streit on July 16, 1944, in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include sons, Kenneth Wayne Culbertson, Arkansas City, Larry Francis Culbertson, Riverside, Calif., and Robert Keith Culbertson, New Strawn; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Presbyterian Church in Lyndon.

Burial will be in Lyndon Cemetery.

Mr. Culbertson will lie in state from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Feltner Funeral Home in Lyndon where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
