Patricia Jean "Pat" Taggart, 80, of Midway Street, formerly of Washington Street, died at 8:04 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Taggart was a graduate of Columbus High School and a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, enjoyed being outside in the sunshine and spending time with her family and was an avid bridge player.

Those who knew her knew she lived life to the fullest. Her passion and love for others will be sadly missed.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church on Lafayette Avenue with the Revs. Brian Campbell and Dennis Aud officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

In keeping with Mrs. Taggart's wishes, cremation is planned and inurnment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the donor's choice of charities.

Born in Lafayette Nov. 28, 1928, Mrs. Taggart was the daughter of George Richard and Ada Frances Littell Torrenga. She married Ralph "Tag" Taggart Jr. Dec. 1, 1950, at First Christian Church. He preceded her in death May 17, 2008.

Survivors include a son, William B. "Bill" (Linda) Taggart of Columbus; a daughter, Tracie (Sean) Cutrell of Columbus; sisters, Betty (Bob) Koegler of Mahomet, Ill.; Phyllis (Bob) Spurgin of Columbus; grandchildren, Ryan B., Alex M. and Brooke E. Taggart, Holly L. (Billy) Shrum, Megan L. (Eric) Johnson, all of Columbus, Justin R. Thompson of South Carolina; Vince R. (Crystal) Thompson and Brandon R. (Carla) Thompson, all of North Carolina; eight greatgrandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Suzy Taggart of Edinburgh.

She was preceded in death by a son, Kevin L. Taggart, on June 10, 2006, her parents and her husband.

The funeral for Patricia Jean "Pat" Taggart, 80, of Midway Street, formerly of Washington Street, was Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Brian Campbell and Dennis Aud officiating. In keeping with Pat's wishes, cremation took place with inurnment in the Seasons Mausoleum at Garland Brook Cemetery. Eulogies were given by Tracie and Sean Cutrell, William B. "Bill" Taggart, Megan Johnson, Ryan Taggart, Rhonda Swope and Merle Milhoah. Organist was John Matthews and vocalist was Angie Stam Ballard.

Pat died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
