Maria was the daughter of Gilbert Weeks of Paton Township, Green Co, Iowa. She married Charles Kelley on March 19, 1867. They were the parents of James R (1874), Lettie E (1873), Charles J (1871), Elma Delia (1870, Elmer Hastings), Bessie Lily (1881), Mary Frances "Mollie" (1884), and two children who died in infancy.
JEFFERSON BEE - Thursday, December 8th, 1904 - East Hardin, Dec. 6: — Nearly all the people of 7th District attended the funeral of Mrs. Chas. Kelley, Saturday at Grand Junction, where a large concourse of friends gathered at the M.E. church, of which the deceased was a member, to show the honor and respect they felt for the dead and her people.
Mrs. Kelley was a highly esteemed resident of Hardin township, until the family removed to Grand Junction eight years ago, after having lived on their farm here for twenty
six years. Mr. Kelley and family have the sympathy of all of their friends in the loss of a good wife and mother.
