She was born to Vard and Lorena Cotten Evans on January 2, 1924 in Tahoka, Texas.
"Miss Lillie" worked at Bergstrom Air Force Base from 1961 until the base closed in 1993. She was successful in many departments, while completing her career as the Base Commander's Secretary after 43 years of service to the Air Force as a Civil Servant. She was an endowed member of the Fidelis Chapter #963, Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Walnut Creek Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the Church Committee and enjoyed singing in the Church Choir. Lillie also enjoyed her time as an office volunteer at Pillow Elementary School for several years, where her grandsons went to school. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dwayne Charles Richards of 44 years, three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her daughter Margo R. Courreges and her husband Wayne A. Courreges Jr. of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Wayne Allen Courreges III and his wife Jennifer of Oak Hill, Virginia and Caleb Austin Courreges of Austin, Texas; her brothers Robert Evans and his wife Earlene of Wichita, Kansas and Donald Evans and his wife Linda of Napa, California; her sister Betty Dillahunty of Huntsville, Arkansas; sister-in-laws Iva Lee Evans, Wanda Evans both of Huntsville, Arkansas, Leona Cowan of Lubbock, Texas, Dorothy Harding and Donna Jean Aubin both of Spokane, Washington; brother-in-laws Robert Richards of Spokane, Washington and Jerry Burgess of Huntsville, Arkansas. Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 N. IH 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660 on September 28, 2011 from 6 p. m. to 7 p. m. Funeral services will be held at Walnut Creek Baptist Church, 12062 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, Texas 78753 on September 29, 2011 at 10:00 a. m. and interment following at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery, IH 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
