Age 29. Died St. Joseph Hospital, Logansport IN. Lived Delphi, IN.

Husband Hansel M. McHardie, married 1918, Delphi, IN.
Their children
1920-2007 Dorothy E. McHardie (Joseph Carl) Fincher, (Robert L.) Jones
1924-1993 Margaret L. McHardie Lowe

Adopted Mother: Elizabeth Eunice "Libbie" Fisher (#35924951)

Parents biological,
Matthew L. Sweeney #65083633 and
Janet Jardin- Sweeney #35383088 Chicago, Cook Co. IL.

She was born Jon Mary Sweeney (long O, adoptive mother corrected spelling to Joan) to Matthew L. Sweeney and Janet (Jardin) Sweeney at Chicago, IL, Cook County Hospital with twin Sara Amelia (adoptive mother changed to Jessie, maybe because her mother was a Sara, I assume she kept her middle name as she kept Joan's middle name). Their mother said they were baptized Catholic at church near Canal Street but Jessie nor I could ever find church records. I have her mother's death certificate from Cook County Hospital with husband's name, address & cause as peritonitis. The agency tried to tell me the mother wasn't married & "these things happen"!

They were adopted out at 15 months old from Lake Bluff/Chicago Orphange (later Lake Bluff/Chicago Children's Home in Park Ridge, IL) August 1900 by Elisabeth Eunice "Libbie" Fisher, a single parent "fell for the girls" and took them back to Delphi, IN. She later married Charles S. Murphy in Delphi, IN. Records say placed in a home April, 1900 "mother had to work" and mother died 6 weeks later of peritonitis. Indications were it took until 1901 for paperwork.
