In Rodman, Jefferson Co., N. Y., September 4, 1862, Edward Whitford, in the 85th year of his age. In early life, Bro. Whitford was a man of rare enterprise and industry, but during the last few years of his existence, his mental and physical strength had so failed as to make him entirely dependent on the care of his children.
While he lived he was not appealed to in vain for the support of objects connected with the cause of Christ. He was the "liberal mind that deviseth liberal things." To the last, when losing almost all other knowledge, he knew his Saviour, and confidently trusted in him.
Thus, within a few weeks of each other, an aged couple who had walked together from youth, have passed away. May their places be filled by others as worthily. In Bro. Whitford's death, the church has met with a great loss.
