BATTLE GROUND, Wash. - Eileen Ellen (Englet) Langsather, 93, passed away March 11, 2009, in Battle Ground. She was born on April 18, 1915, in Lavina, Mont., to Alfred Otto Englet and Sarah "Sadie" Elizabeth Cuppett.

In May of 1937, she married Rudy Langsather in Roundup, Mont., and they had two children. They moved to Seattle in the early 1940s, where she resided until she moved to Battle Ground in 1994 to be closer to her daughter and family.

Eileen was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church, grew up as a member of the Lavina Church, was a member of the Greenlake Methodist Church in Seattle and, since 1995, was a member of the Battle Ground United Methodist Community Church.

From World War II until her retirement in 1978, Eileen was employed by retail clothing stores, King Country Home Frozen Foods as a meat wrapper and Battelle Science Institute in maintenance. She was a member of the Meatcutters' Union in Seattle.

While living in Seattle, she was very active in the United Methodist Woman Assn. Her hobbies were making quilts for homeless children, filling emergency health kits for the homeless and making various needlecraft items for the annual church rummage sale. She also enjoyed coordinating the weekly coffee hour following the Sunday church service, a position she served in for 15 years.

Eileen was head of the entertainment committee at the senior citizen apartment complex where she lived in Seattle. She also enjoyed baking for the other tenants.

More recently, she enjoyed attending fellowship luncheons with church friends and was quite creative in inventing ways to keep her daughter from tagging along.

She was preceded in death by former husband, Rudolph Garfield Langsather; son Gerald Alfred Langsather; granddaughter Kimberly Diane Ramsey; brother Edwin Englet; and sister Ruth L. Sunderland.

Survivors include her daughter Mary Ellen Graham of Battle Ground; three granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; niece Joan E. Sunderlund of Seattle; and several cousins.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 23, at 11 a.m., at the Lavina Cemetery, with everyone welcome to attend. Arrangements are being handled by Wier Funeral Home of Roundup, Mont.
