Abraham Stump, son of Jacob and Lydia Stump, was born in Starke County, Indiana on Nov 28, 1859, and passed this life Dec 14, 1943, aged 84 years and 16 days.

At the age of six years he came with his parents to Marshall County, Iowa and removed with them to Furnas County, Nebraska where he has since made his home.

He may be counted among the pioneers who contributed to the making of this community what it is now, for in 1880 he took a homestead on Turkey creek, north of Edison, and there brought his bride and made his home until 1937 when he removed to Edison where he resided until the time of his death.

The last five of these years were spent with his daughter, Mrs Chapman.

On April 21 1880, he was married to Edith E Osborn who shared his life for fifty four years.

To them seven children were born. Two of these, sons and the wife and mother proceed him in death.

He leaves the friends whom he made during a long life, his five children: Mrs Lydia Chapman and Harvey Stump of Edison, Mrs Myrtle Robbins and Ralph Stump of Jerome, Idaho and Winfred of Twin Falls, Idaho; also thirty-three grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

He was a member of the Edison Christian Church, but for several years has been unable to attend any services.

Now he sleeps.
"Blessed are the dead that die
in the Lord from hencefore,
Yea, saith the spirit
that they may rest from their labors".

Funeral services were conducted from the Christian church, Saturday afternoon by Rev L L Holmes with interment in the Stump cemetery northeast of Edison.
