Earl Edward Garrett, 89, passed away quietly at the home of his daughter on April 3, 2009. Born July 11, 1919 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Spurgeon E. Garrett and Sarah E. (Boteler) Garrett Earl graduated from Norman High School in 1938, where he played quarterback in the first annual Oklahoma All Star Football game. Earl joined the Navy in 1942 where he met and married his wife of 59 years Maxine Merium (Morris) Garrett. After serving his country, Earl attended the University of Oklahoma and the University of Miami where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. Earl and Maxine moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he began his career at CIT, an industrial finance corporation in 1959, his hard work and dedication promoted him to Vice President and Division Head. Earl retired in 1978 and in 2006 moved to Kingwood, Texas with his daughter Susan Garrett to join his daughter Paula Fleming where he enjoyed his friends at Cypress Woods and Eden Terrace Independent Living Centers. Earl was a loving father and devoted husband. He enjoyed fishing, football (avid OU Sooner fan), friends, relatives and wonderful stories. Earl is preceded in death by his parents, brother John L. Garrett, sister Betty A. White, wife Maxine M. Garrett and daughter Pat J. Bouziden. Earl is survived by his daughters Gloria Susan Garrett and Paula C. Fleming two grandchildren Azure D. Grillo and Chevis E. Fleming two great-grandchildren Gw-yneth M. Grillo, Wittman M. Grillo many nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial Services will be held April 25, 2009, at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Oklahoma City, OK, located at 7500 W. Britton Road. Visitation with the family will be held at 12:30 p.m. followed by services at 1:00 p.m.
