Funeral services for Mary J. Snyder, 93, of Sheridan will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Mormon Church. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Snyder died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, in Westview Health Care Center. She was born Nov. 4, 1912, in Carneyville to Joseph and Eva (Kuzma) Gorzalka. She grew up and attended schools in the Sheridan area and worked as housekeeper on the John Kerns Ranch. She married Orville "Jake" Woods on Jan. 5, 1936. They lived in Parkman, where they operated the gas station. Mr. Woods died in 1950. She worked as a mail carrier. She married Milas Snyder on May 26, 1951, and they moved south of Sheridan. Mr. Snyder died in 1986. Mrs. Snyder enjoyed gardening, sewing and embroidering. She loved animals, especially horses. She was a member of the Mormon Church, the Relief Society and the Parkman Woman's Club. She was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters and a grandson. Survivors include a son, Joe of Sheridan; two daughters, Eva Bishop and Betty Shassetz, both of Sheridan; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the LDS Church Hardship Fund.

Mary was born November 4, 2005, in Karneyville, WY to Joseph & Eva (Kuzma) Gorzalka.
She grew up and attended schools in the Sheridan area. She worked as housekeeper on the John Kerns Ranch. Mary married Orville ‘Jake' Woods on January 5, 1936. They lived in Parkman and ran the gas station. Mr. Woods died in 1950. She then worked as a mail carrier. Mary married Milas Snyder on May 26, 1951. They moved to south of Sheridan. Mr. Synder died in 1986. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and embroidery. She loved animals especially horses. Mary was a member of the LDS Church and the Relief Society and also the Parkman Women's Club.
Mary was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters and a grandson Casey.
Mary is survived by her son Joe Woods of Sheridan; two daughters Eva Bishop and Betty Shassetz both of Sheridan; six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 10:00am on Wednesday (Nov. 16th) from the LDS Church. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
Memorials may benefit the LDS Church Hardship Fund.
