Clarence Wilbur DeVinny, 87, of Indiana, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born Nov. 1, 1914, in Homer City, a son of Olyn C. DeVinny and Elsie Mae Lee DeVinny.

Mr. DeVinny was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Indiana for 51 years.

He was also a certified lay reader in the Episcopal Church, traveling to Pittsburgh, Harrisburg and Erie at times as a lay minister.

In 1951, he was owner, operator and watchmaker of his own jewelry store on Main St. in Homer City.

He then began working with PennDOT as a designer on the highway commission.

He continued his employment with Indiana Borough as maintenance supervisor for a time and retired from S.W. Central Rural Electric, having been maintenance director there.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as a technician with Company F, 110th Infantry Regiment, 28th Division. He also served in the Civil Air Patrol.

Mr. DeVinny was a member of the Silver Wings, a former commander of the Indiana Cadet Squad 703, a lifetime associate member of the Indiana FOP Rhododendron Lodge 33 and a former member of the Indiana Eagles Lodge 1468.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Martha L. Sanford DeVinny, Indiana; his daughter, Rebecca May "Becky" Titterington and her husband, Harve, Scottdale; two brothers: Paul Lee DeVinny, Indiana, and William E. Anderson and his wife, Sue, RD 1 Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. DeVinny was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral mass was held Wednesday at Christ Episcopal Church, with the Rev. William L. Geiger as celebrant.

Interment followed in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
