SODA SPRINGS — Jared "Jerry" Porter Lowe, 76, of Soda SPRINGS, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at the Portneuf Medical Center East in Pocatello. He was born April 5, 1933, at Franklin, Idaho, the son of Cyril Kingford and Fern Porter Lowe.

Jerry was raised and educated at Franklin. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17, where he received his graduation diploma. He served in Vietnam and Korean wars and was on ready alert during the "Bay of Pigs" during the Cuban conflict.

He married Floy Nell Hassell on June 4, 1959, in Harlington, Texas. She passed away on January 10, 1980.

At age 25 he joined the Air Force as an aviation cadet and graduated in 1959. Jerry served in the Air Force for 20 years and retired to Soda SPRINGS at age 42.

During the last 34 years, he has worked in television repair, woodworking, a flying service, owned and operated a motel, restaurant, and lounge, guided deep-sea fishing off the coast of Oregon, and was a computer technician. In his earlier years, he was an avid bowler and golfer.

Jerry is survived by four sons and one daughter and their spouses, Brian (Frances) Lowe, Senath, Mo., Michael (Lori) Lowe, Soda SPRINGS, Idaho, David Lowe, Twin Falls, Idaho, Larry and Rose Lowe, Portland, Ore., and Cynthia (Bruce) Murray, Soda SPRINGS, Idaho. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters, Ron (Karen) Lowe, Franklin, Idaho, Mike (Kathy) Lowe, Preston, Idaho, Jim (Naomi) Lowe, Brigham, Utah, Shirley Lund, Soda SPRINGS, Idaho, and Carol Curtis, Smithfield, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 11, at 11 a.m. at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs. The family will meet friends from 10 a.m. until services. Cremation services have been conducted. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
