William Giffin, s/o John and Margaret Jane (Shaw) Giffin. A soldier in Co. D, 12th WV Inf. of the Civil War, died in a hospital at Cumberland MD, Dec 16, 1862. He was a student at West Liberty Academy at the time of his enlistment. His tombstone carries the announcement of his Civil War service. He planned to enter the ministry of the U.P. church.

In May of 2009, I found William's tombstone at Old Tent Cemetery.
