Mrs. August Wurdemann, 63, residing at 2107 Fourteenth street, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Lutheran Good Samaritan hospital. She had been in failing health for the last few years suffering with gall bladder. As Miss Anna Wilhelmine Cattau, she was born on Oct. 9, 1872 at Sage, Oldenburg, Germany, where she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith and received her schooling. Then she migrated to the United States, landing in New York on her 16th birthday. She came directly to Platte county to join her brother, Henry L. Cattau, who preceded her six months before. On Aug. 1, 1890, she was married to J. F. August Wurdemann and they established their home on a farm one and a half miles west of the Christ Lutheran church, northeast of Columbus. In 1924 they retired from the farm, and moved to the home in Columbus, where she was residing at the time of her death. When they lived in the country, she attended the Christ Lutheran church, and took an active part in church activities, and after moving to Columbus they attended the Immanuel Lutheran church. She is survived by her husband; two sons, Paul and Julius both of Columbus; four daughters, Mrs. Adolf Hoge, sr., and Mrs. G.E. Marty, of Columbus, Mrs. E.A. Marty of West Point, and Mrs. Hugo Nissen, of Clarks; seven brothers, Fred, Henry, William, Louis, Herman, Carl and Rudolf Cattau, and a sister, Mrs. Amalie Lueschen, all of Columbus, and 16 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the family home, and at 1:30 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran church, with Rev. A. H. Guettler, pastor, officiating. Burial will be made at the Christ Lutheran cemetery 14 miles northeast of Columbus. The body was taken home this afternoon from the McKown Funeral Home.
