Frederick Wilhelm Cattau was born in 1843 in Sage, Germany to Bernhard Cattau and Catherina Zitterick. He was the youngest of 5 children. He grew up to young manhood in Germany and married in 1869 to Anna Zitterick. Eleven children were born to them in Germany. Some of the children came to America in 1888 finding work in the Christ Lutheran area. Frederick and Anna and the remainder of the family came in 1897. In 1907, Frederick joined Christ Lutheran church where he was a member until his death in 1922. His wife, Anna, had passed away in 1917. Both are buried in Christ Lutheran cemetery. Their children were Frederick B., Henry L., Anna Wurdeman – grandmother of Marvin Wurdeman of this congregation, Minnie Wurdeman – grandmother of Mrs. Victor Wilke and Don Wurdeman of our congregation, Eliza, Amalia Lueschen – grandmother of Mrs. Harry Korte and Mrs. Richard Saalfeld, Wilhelm L. – Parent of Werner Cattau of this congregation, C. Ludwig (Louis) - parent of Clarence Cattau of this congregation, Herman J., B. Carl, and Rudolph A. – father of Helmuth Cattau of this congregation.
