Lucille attended South High School in Salt Lake City and Utah State University. She trained as a nurse, then worked for many years as a nurses aide while raising a family. As a member of the LDS church, Lucille was a Relief Society Teacher and Visiting Teacher, and was also a Member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
She married Thomas E. Bailey on February 14, 1947 in Bremen, Germany. They made their home in the Salt Lake City area. Tom and Lucille had six children and eleven grandchildren. She loved music and dancing, and played the accordion.
