Orin H. Leverenz, 80, of R. 1, New Holstein, a retired Calumet County farmer, died early today at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born in the Town of Charlestown on Aug. 5, 1889, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Leverenz. He attended elementary and high school in New Holstein. On March 26, 1913 he married the former Katie Persohn at the Brillion Methodist Church. The couple farmed in the town of Charlestown until their retirement. He and his wife observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1963.
Mr. Leverenz was a member of Bethel Methodist Church, Meggers, and the New Holstein Masonic Lodge for 54 years, serving as worshipful master from 1932 to 1933. He held various offices in the church and Sunday School and served as chairman of the Town of Charlestown Board and was a supervisor in Calumet County for 10 years. Mr. Leverenz was a director of the Peoples State Bank, New Holstein, for 40 years, and served as director of the Calumet Insurance Co.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Allen of R. 1, New Holstein and Milford of Plymouth; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at Bethel Methodist Church, Meggers, with the Rev. Lorene Iwakira, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
