Cause of Death: Illness

Vernon Jurgens was living with his parents Henry and Lucy Jurgens of Mirinda, Queensland, when he enlisted in the Army at Bowen, Queensland on 29 April 1941.
Marched in to the 2/26 Battalion, he was later transferred to 2/29 Battalion, though after being taken POW, he transferred back to 2/26 Battalion.
After leaving Singapore in April 1943 as part of "F" Force,he was slaving on the railway when he was admitted to Kanchanaburi F & H Force No 2 Hospital Camp with Cardiac Beri Beri where he passed away.
Originally buried in grave 507 at Kanchanaburi No. 2 Burial Grounds, his body was exhumed after wars end and reinterred at Kanchanaburi War Cemetery.
