He was the youngest son, also the youngest child of Christian Lauffer "The Pioneer" and Susannah Best. When Christian was three years old, his parents moved from Northampton County to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania taking their entire family with them, including his older married siblings.
He had three wives: Sarah Hugus; Magdalena Degart; and my ggg grandmother, Elizabeth Teagarden.

Christian married his first wife, Sarah Hugus in Greensburg, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania in 1791. They had six children: Johannes "John", Susannah, Jacob, Magdalena, Sarah and Caroline Catherina. Sarah Hugus Loffer died Oct 19, 1802, a month after giving birth to Caroline Catherina.

Christian was probably married a second time, to Magdalena Degart. I say probably, because a marriage record has not been found, but we do know there was a relationship, if not a marriage. The birth of their son Aaron is recorded in Greensburg, Westmoreland, Pennsyvania. Aaron was born Aug. 28, 1806. Magdalena died in 1807 In Greensburg.

Christian's final marriage was to Elizabeth Teagarden of Franklin Township, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania. Both are on the DAR list. My Loffer line descends from their son Daniel. After their marriage, Christian and Elizabeth moved to Pickaway County, Ohio with other Lauffers and members of theTeagarden family. Christian, my 3rd great-grandfather, is the one to change our surname spelling to "Loffer". He did this after he and Elizabeth Teagarden married and moved to Ohio.

Christian and Elizabeth had 7 children: Christian III, Henry, Solomon Teagarden,Ellen, Sarah, Daniel and Simon Peter. All of the children of Christian and Elizabeth were born in Ohio and spelled their surname "Loffer". Some of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Christian and Elizabeth reverted to the original Spelling of "Lauffer", but most did not.

Christian and Elizabeth are buried in the little cemetery on the Old Esquire Conklin farm, owned in 1900 by Thad W. Baum, near Pleasant Grove School House in Pickaway County, Ohio.
